365 Days of Blessings: Day 9 (Blue Skies and Tomatoes)

365-Days-of-Blessings-Stiped

Today we are once again blessed with fantastic Autumn weather. I’m loving the blue skies!

I had the opportunity to take my son with me on a nice walk/jog in our neighborhood. I’m so thankful I was able to run a bit, because two weeks ago due to health reasons it was all I could do to take a walk around the block….and the walk was s-l-o-w! Today I was able to complete a couple of miles.

When we got home from our walk, we spent some time in the backyard picking tomatoes and peppers. Look at my filled to the brim bowl!

I so can’t wait to make some homemade salsa with these fresh tomatoes.

365 Days of Blessings: Day 7 & 8

Day 7

Yesterday day I was blessed to have a quiet day at home….cleaning. Or attempting to clean anyway. I did get our coat closet cleaned out and this shelf for shoes put together, so something got accomplished!

Day 8

Today we are enjoying beautiful weather! This morning my son and I met my mom, sister and niece at one of our favorite workout spots: Swallow Cliff. What do we do at Swallow Cliff? We walk these stairs….

image

All 125 of them! It’s quite the workout. I’ve only had the chance to go a couple of times this year, so I was only to do eight sets. But it felt so good to get a good workout in.

And we also take little walks in the woods…

Look how happy my little man is exploring!!

365 Days of Blessings: Day 5 and 6 (Traveling, Shopping and Bread)

This past week, my husband and I had the opportunity to travel to his hometown to visit his family. It was a blessing to be able to hangout with family we only see a handful of times through the year!

We were blessed to have a new van to drive in, giving us more room. My husband kept saying that it was the most comfortable drive we have had.

As we were away, we had a chance to hit up an outlet mall in Pennsylvania, about 45 minutes away from where we were staying. Pennsylvania has no sales tax on certain merchandise (including clothing), so we stocked up on some much needed items for my husband and son.

During this trip I scored these Pepperidge Farms loaves of bread for just $0.50! Four loaves of bread for a grand total of $2 = a huge blessing. These are going to be awesome with soup this Fall season, and just perfect if I want to make Soup in a bread bowl.

Last night I had the blessing of sleeping in the comfort of my own bed, with a certain little child of mine sleeping in his own bed! Traveling is always so hard with him because he sleeps in the same room as us and then ends up in bed with us, which means I get no sleep.

Today I have the blessing of resting between our morning and evening church services and look forward to getting back into a routine tomorrow!

365 Days of Blessings: Day 4

Today I am blessed that my husband has a couple vacation days and we are able to spend some extra time together. And I’m also thankful that we’re able to spend some time with out-of-town family.

As I write this post, I am blessed with a little boy that is taking a nap, giving this mama some much needed quiet time!

365 Days of Blessings: Day 3

paid

Today’s blessing comes with a little story!

Yesterday as my husband and I were driving, he had on talk radio. One of the talk show hosts was complaining about his wife – on national radio. Apparently, his family had just moved over the weekend. He went on to say that he had taken care of “everything”: the mortgage, the closing, finding movers. He was the one who “paid for the house”.

As the man continued with his story, he shared how his wife had texted him, frustrated that he was on the golf course while she was trying to unpack and pick up the kids from school.

This guys response to her? “PAID FOR THE HOUSE!”

Then, on another day she had asked him to be home as they had DirectTV coming to set up their satellite tv. She needed to pick up the kids from school and couldn’t be in two places at once. This husband responded to her by once again saying “PAID FOR THE HOUSE!” Instead her mom ended up going to pick up the kids from school.

Having just moved this June, I am so blessed with a husband that took his responsibility of buying our house with pride. My husband was the one who diligently looked for a new home for us, he researched the mortgage and dealt with the agent. My husband called the insurance company to change our homeowners insurance, contacted all the utility companies, and setup the appointment for our internet provider to come out. He even felt bad that he couldn’t be there when the technician came out.

Never once during the moving process, or even now, has my husband ever arrogantly or rudely said, “paid for the house”. Since we are a one income family, he technically did  “pay for the house”, but the entire process has been a joint effort. We each took responsibilities in different areas. I am so blessed that we have a marriage that works together as a team!

As we finished listening to this talk show host ranting on his wife, I leaned over and squeezed my husband’s arm  saying, “Thank you so much for not being like this man.”

365 Days of Blessings: Day 2

is 40.31

Yesterday I was blessed with some extra quiet time in the morning before my son woke up. No….he didn’t sleep in. I just woke up early and was able to focus right away, as it usually takes me a half hour or more to think clearly in the morning. A little extra time with the Lord was just what I needed.

I am so thankful for the energy and strength that the Lord provided me to get things done! Yesterday I was tired (I think being up most the night on Sunday finally caught up to me) and so many times I just wanted to sit and rest. BUT, I knew I had a lot of stuff that absolutely needed to get done and resting didn’t fit into my day. Thankfully, the Lord sustained me through the day!

The verse in Isaiah 40:31 comes to mind: “but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; hey shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

365 Days of Blessings: Day 1

365-Days-of-Blessings-Stiped

Welcome to the first day of my journey to sharing 365 Days of Blessings. Each and every day is filled with blessings, things we should be thankful for.

Yesterday I was blessed with a son that took a 3 hour afternoon nap. While that doesn’t seem like a big deal to you, it is a huge deal to me! It’s a rare occasion that he takes a nap that long. On top of that, I was up with him for most the night, simply because he wanted to be held. These nights and days are rare, so I’ll take the extra cuddle time when I can get it.

stuckThe 3 hour nap he took gave me an opportunity to not only take a short nap myself and get a little work done, but also to sit down and start working on the first lesson in the book “Stuck” by Jennie Allen.

Then, last night I was blessed to attend a home study to discuss “Stuck”, while my husband stayed home to cover bedtime duty with our son!!

365 Days of Blessings Challenge

autumn

I love the Fall Season. I love taking walks in the crisp Autumn air, the smell of pumpkin bread baking in the oven, the leaves changing colors on the trees, the decorations. I love the Fall because it hosts one of my favorite holidays: Thanksgiving – a time where people reflect on things they are thankful for.

Last year during the month of November, my husband and I noticed a lot of people on Facebook sharing their “30 Days of Thankfulness”. Maybe you were even one of them!

This sparked a little discussion in our home. Oh, it was nice seeing things people were thankful for, but what if we looked for something we are thankful for every day of the year?

I’ll be the first to admit, there are days that are difficult to be thankful. Life is hard! But as the saying goes, “There is always, always, always something to be thankful for”. Even more, the Bible says in 1 Thessalonians 5:17, “Give thanks in ALL circumstances.

Having a heart of thanksgiving is a choice. When we have a thankful, grateful heart, we can have a more content and joyful heart!

So as we begin the month of October tomorrow, I will begin to share my “365 Days of Blessings”. I would LOVE for you to not only follow me on this journey, but also to join me! As I share my blessings, the things I’m thankful for, feel free to share yours as well either in the comment section of each post, or on my Facebook page, An Everyday Blessing.

Let’s be an encouragement to each other as we foster a heart of thankfulness, having an attitude of gratitude each and every day!
